xmade is an architectural studio based in barcelona and basel with international collaborations, focused on researching and producing contemporary building envelopes through the use of emerging materials and new strategies to revisit traditional materials. xmade’s design process is shaped by developing specific tools and manipulating the characteristics and capacities of the building envelope to improve its performance. this leads to buildings that are passive, energy efficient, smart, interactive, biodegradable, recyclable… important to this process is the accurate study of the site’s physic and other stuff.
